God desires very much for people to be united with each other. Unfortunately, not "all unity" is good unity. For example, some people unite for war, not so cool.

God wants us to unite first with Him, then to unite with one another in love. This is the foundation of loving community, giving freely, being agreeable, bearing with one another. This type of unity both fulfills our heart's desire for love, and allows us to show our love for God.
