Jesus Christ shows us the truth of God's Love for us, at the same time he shows us the truth of our own wretched state. Without Jesus Christ, we tend to rely too heavily on our beliefs, even to the point of our own detriment. But through the lens of Jesus' life we see what perfection looks like. Then, rather than leaning on our own understanding, we can lean on the power of Jesus instead, and in so doing, we are reconciled back to a right relationship with God.

What does it mean to say "Jesus mediates between man and God"?
In simplest terms, God is Love and God is Truth... and Jesus shows us the Truth of God's Love for us. Apart from Jesus we would not know the Truth of God's Love for us, so we'd make up our own beliefs about reality. But because Jesus shows us the full power of God, and the perfect example of what a man should be, he clears up all the confusion about who we are, who God is, and what life is about. Thereby, Jesus Christ allows us to have a full, peaceful, reconciled relationship with God!
