Teachers have a very noble profession as it's their job to disseminate knowledge.  The Bible generally speaks highly of gaining knowledge. 

In Biblical times "teachers" primarily taught the knowledge of God.  Today that spiritual knowledge is taught through pastors and Sunday-school teachers.  A student today still has the responsibility of fortifying academic knowledge with spiritual knowledge.  Either way, the job of well-meaning teachers is esteemed.
